Firefighters tackle shop blaze in Edgware

Firefighters rushed to Edgware High Street in the early hours of this morning (5 July) to tackle a fire at a shop.

An official statement on the London Fire Website says: “Firefighters tackled a fire at a shop with flats above on the High Street in Edgware in the early hours of this morning.

“Part of the external stairwell and the front door of a first floor flat were damaged by fire. Firefighters led around 10 people to safety from adjacent properties. One woman was assessed on scene.

“The Brigade was called at 0230 and the fire was under control by 0338. Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters from Stanmore and Mill Hill fire stations attended the scene.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
